historic building used for photography in Powder Springs, GA

six month sitter photoshoot in marietta GeorgiaOriginally built in the 1900’s, the Liz By Design photo studio sits just on the corner of Marietta Street and Lewis Road in the heart of historic Downtown Powder Springs. Although there are many hidden gem photo locations within walking and driving distance of the studio, one of my favorite places to shoot is right here in my 550 square foot happy place. In addition to the original exposed brick walls, there are windows three-quarters of the way around the room with several floor to ceiling windows, creating a unique photo space that lets in the perfect amount of natural light (which can also be blocked off in order to shoot with flash). The beautiful vaulted ceilings, as well as the walls in the bathroom, consist of repurposed wood from the original floor and walls, as much of the original building was repurposed during renovations. In addition to the aesthetically pleasing interior architecture of the space, the decor is what makes the room, and photos, that much more inviting and distinctive. One corner of the room is milk bath maternity with flowers in antique claw foot tubused for window shots, with natural light coming in from one side and the original exposed brick in the background. Another corner is set up with a decorated bed, bedside table, and several other carefully staged furniture pieces that are rotated and redesigned every few months, making for a bohemian posing spot that is especially helpful for boudoir photos. In addition to the bedroom set props, the studio also holds many antique, one-of-a-kind pieces that clients have the option to utilize in their photos. If you’re doing a newborn session, I offer an antique wooden cradle, which can be layered and styled in many different ways. Or, perhaps you’re wanting to do a one-year cake smash session using the beautiful wooden highchair, graciously loaned newborn in antique cradle family studio powder springs, gato me by the William Root House Museum & Garden and cute little vintage wash basin, found at the local antique boutique, Treasure Hunt,  for a bubble bath shoot after. Take a decadent milk bath in the antique claw foot tub or try on one of the many elegant, sexy dresses available for maternity or regular in-studio portraits. Located in Metro Atlanta roughly 20 minutes from Marietta, Smyrna, Dallas, Douglasville, and Hiram, and only 30 minutes outside of Atlanta, the Liz By Design studio acts as a sanctuary where I get to capture memories while they’re being created.
